Cal U's PSAC champion Vulcan football team has become an NCAA Division II national power under seventh-year head coach John Luckhardt (39-7 since 2005) and supporting him for the Liberty Mutual Coach of the Year Award will help Cal U students. This award recognizes that academic standings mean as much as division standings. More than just a trophy, the Liberty Mutual Coach of the Year Award provides each winning coach with $50,000 to donate to one or more charitable organizations of his choice and a $20,000 grant to donate to his school's alumni association to enhance student scholarships and activities. Created by the National Building Museum in Washington,"Green Community" is the first major exhibition in the United States to explore the complex process of creating and sustaining healthy communities. Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition "In Search of Giant Squid" Comes to Cal U Sept 22-Dec. 19
They inhabit all of the world's oceans, do battle with sperm whales, can be longer than a school bus, and can weigh over 1,000 pounds. Yet, until only recently giant squid have never been seen in their natural habitat. "In Search of Giant Squid" explores what is known about these mystifying animals and describes scientists' ongoing efforts to observe them in their undersea environment. This new exciting traveling exhibition, based on the enormously popular permanent exhibition at the Smithsonian's National Museum of Natural History, will open at California University of Pennsylvania's Manderino Gallery of Fine Art on Monday, September 22. Cal U's Christopher Clark Wins 2008 NCAA Atlantic Regional Cross Country Championship
One week after winning the PSAC championship, graduate student Christopher Clark won the 2008 NCAA Division II Atlantic Regional Men's Cross Country Championship at Slippery Rock's Cooper's Lake Campground on Saturday, Nov. 8. He finished first out of 165 runners with a course record of 31 minutes and advances to the NCAA National Championships on Nov. 22. ...More Info

Cal U Holiday Student Pottery Sale Dec. 8-10
The Cal U Holiday Student Pottery Sale will take place Dec. 8-10, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. This holiday tradition will take place in the Ceramics Studio in the Herron Quad near renovated Vulcan Hall.
